Will biotin affect my lab results?

Biotin can significantly interfere with our At-Home Test Kit and may cause incorrect test results. To ensure accurate test results, please stop taking Biotin for 7 days before collecting your sample.

If you have questions about a specific medication or supplement, please email contact@palomahealth.com and we'll be happy to help.

Why are the results different than my previous labs?

Reference ranges vary by lab, meaning that different labs may yield different results. This is normal. Variability can occur due to:

  • Differences in testing equipment
  • Chemicals used
  • Analysis techniques, and more

This variability is the reason you should use the range supplied by the lab that analyzed your test to evaluate whether your results are within normal limits. We recommend you use the same laboratory each time you have your labs drawn. Consistency is key when tracking your thyroid labs over time.
